Marking the 15th Anniversary of Our First Concert
1992-2007

Der Spyra - 24 March 2007

Der Spyra (aka Wolfram Spyra) is a German synthesist with strong roots in the Berlin-School of Spacemusic. Embracing these essential concepts he creates electronic realizations with a transportative quality. Mixing dreamy electronics with enticing synthetic percussion, Spyra delivers an extremely appealing music. Charged with rhythm and catchy melodies, Spyra's music brings the ideas of classic 1970's spacemusic into the present tense. Der Spyra made his east-coast concert debut in Philadelphia at The Gatherings Concert Series on 24 March 2007.

Giles Reaves

Giles Reaves

The Fulton/Reaves Project - 21 April 2007

Giles Reaves has to his credit several influential albums of innovative electronic music, including the genre defining Wunjo. Dreamy, trance-inducing melodic textures figure prominently in his music.

Part mad scientist, part sonic visionary, Dave Fulton's command of the many custom designed electronics at his disposal is formidable. Currently playing in two underground rock bands, Fulton filters this activity through his years of experience with the Berlin-School inspired ensemble Dweller at the Threshold to realize a new and unique music.

The Fulton/Reaves Project performed their new material in Philadelphia at The Gatherings Concert Series on 21 April 2007. Spacemusic duo Orbital Decay opened.

Steve Roach

Steve Roach

Steve Roach - 19 May 2007

A pioneer in contemporary electronic music, Steve Roach is a leading innovator in the atmospheric/tribal/ambient music world. Drawing on the beauty and power of the earth's landscapes, Roach creates lush, meditative soundscapes. His music exists outside conventional boundaries and is restless in its search for new sounds that connect with an ancient source. Over the past 20 years, Roach has been a rare constant as live performer on the international electronic music scene. With over 50 albums to his credit he continues to set the standards by which this evolving genre is measured. In spite of his music having been borrowed from so many times, Roach still has the power to inspire and move. Steve Roach returned to Philadelphia as part of The Gatherings Concert Series on 19 May 2007. Synthesist Jeffrey Koepper opened.

David Wright - 29 September 2007

The music of David Wright spans a broad spectrum of styles but is always thematic and with strong melodic structure. Combining romanticism, sequences, atmospherics and varied rhythmic elements, his music has been characterised as emotive and expressive with eastern and jazz tinged elements. In 1989 Wright founded the AD Music record label, which has since built up a roster of 12 artists and more than 50 CD releases. Wright has performed numerous concerts in the UK and Europe (both as a solo performer and with his group "Code Indigo"), including The London Planetarium (with Jonn Serrie) and Duisburg (with Klaus Schulze). David Wright made his stateside concert debut in Philadelphia as part of The Gatherings Concert Series on 29 September 2007.

Erik Wollo

Erik Wollo

Erik Wollo - 27 October 2007

Erik Wollo's roots in progressive rock are evident in his cinematic musical themes. While there is always a sense of warmth to his atmospheric pieces, Wollo's music resounds with the stark beauty of Norway's wintry landscapes. His musical experience covers a range of styles - from rock and jazz to classical and ambient. He creates music that is both lyrical and rhythmic, focusing on melody and structure. Through his subtle minimalist patterns and nebulous breaths of sound, Wollo creates concerts of luminous airy music. Erik Wollo returned to Philadelphia as part of The Gatherings Concert Series on 27 October 2007.

Radio Massacre Int'l - 17 November 2007

Radio Massacre Int'l is a trio of English musicians (Steve Dinsdale, Duncan Goddard, Gary Houghton) known for extended concerts of epic aural excursions. Performances are largely improvised and often veer off into areas dictated by mood, circumstance or whim. RMI's recorded output reflects the diversity and complexity of this work, which is often compared to that of the Berlin-School of cosmic music. But RMI is not simply re-creating the music of this era, rather they further explore and contemplate the expressional mode and the instruments that made it possible - in hopes of realizing new ideas. Radio Massacre Int'l returned to Philadelphia for their third performance as part of The Gatherings Concert Series on 17 November 2007.
